This apartment is located in an old Art Deco building overlooking the Sea Point Promenade. The renovation opens up the interior to spectacular panoramic sea views and makes good use of the existing space. The interior volumes are spacious and modern with custom designed furniture to optimise storage capacity and create unity between the various elements. The kitchen is carefully constructed to accommodate a geyser, fridge and washing machine in a hidden joinery unit, whilst providing ample work surfaces and drawer units in a fairly compact space. Conceptually, the white interiors were designed to recede allowing the sea views to dominate the visual experience. An engineered timber ash floor is used throughout to create warmth. Similarly, small mosaic tiles are used in the bathrooms to add a splash of ocean-inspired colour to the white walls. Completed 2009.
